Restarting your deferred VAT in seconds!

As you might have seen, HMRC has now ended their deferral of VAT payments and as such, you may now wish to reinstate your direct debit payments. Unfortunately, HMRC has removed the ability for us to set this up on your behalf, however, it is relatively straightforward for you to do now.

Firstly, you will need to set up a business Government Gateway account, if you have not already got one set up thus far, you can do this by googling ‘Government Gateway’ or using this link: https://www.access.service.gov.uk/registration/email

Once you have followed the steps and signed up you should be able to see a page similar to that below:

You should add access to ‘Making Tax Digital for VAT’ (as shown above) to your account, this way you can see any outstanding payments and make changes to your VAT account if necessary, clicking on the link in the blue box. You will likely need your VAT number and date of registration for this.

Then to set up the direct debit you can click on manage account and then ‘Set up or change VAT Direct Debit’.

From here, you should be able to follow the steps given online. If you have any issues, please feel free to ask us by giving us a call on 01273 441 187
